Coffee Facts Friday

February 4 is Vacuum Day.  Many readers may think of the invention of vacuum cleaners, but get a grip on your grinder—after all this is Coffee Fact Friday.  Around our coffee pot, coffeesnobology celebrates vacuum-sealed bags on Vacuum Day.
Coffeesnobology, sifted through coffee-grounds research to discover this cherry.  In 1977 Henry Norman Saurage lll became president of Community Coffee Company, the largest family-owned brand in the United States.  Saurage knows his coffee beans and he began development of the first vacuum-sealed bag in North America.
Vacuum-sealed bags ensure optimum freshness and flavor because the bags protect coffee beans from air, which dries the oils and ruins the aroma of coffee beans.
Vacuum Day does celebrate sweeping change for coffee enthusiasts.
